This Privacy Policy explains what information AltMass ("we", "us", "the platform") collects when you use our website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or otherwise using the platform, you agree to the practices described here.
Account information. Username, email address, first and last name, country, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text) — collected when you register directly or sign up with Google/Facebook.
Profile information (optional). Avatar image, bio, date of birth, gender, and profile visibility preference, if you choose to add them.
Gameplay & activity data. XP, level, current and longest streak, coins balance, quizzes played and created, game results and scores, lifeline usage, room participation, and achievement unlocks.
Social data. Posts, comments, likes, and follow relationships if you use the Feed, and messages you send through Rooms or the Contact form.
Referral data. Your unique referral code and, if you signed up via someone else's referral link, which account referred you.
Financial data. If cash rewards, Premium subscriptions, or ad funding are enabled on this site, we record wallet balances, transaction history, and withdrawal requests. Card and bank details are handled directly by our payment processor (Paystack) — we do not store your full card number or bank credentials on our servers.
Device & technical data. IP address, browser/device information, and login timestamps, used for account security (including detecting repeated failed login attempts) and fraud prevention.
Camera data (only if enabled, and only during certain games). Some game types may use periodic camera snapshots as an anti-cheat measure, but only where the site admin has explicitly switched this on. When active, it applies solely to that specific game session, is used only to help detect exam-style cheating, and is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to that session's integrity.
Cookies. See our Cookie Policy for full details on the cookies we use.
Communications. Messages you send us through the Contact form, including your name, email, and message content.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We share information only with the services needed to run the platform's features, and only the data each one needs to do its job:
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition).
AltMass is built with students in mind, including learners preparing for Primary and Secondary school exams, and we take extra care with younger users' data as a result:
Admin: if this platform will be used by children under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (this varies by country and, in Nigeria, is addressed under the Nigeria Data Protection Act), review whether additional safeguards — parental consent flows, stricter data minimization, disabling camera-based anti-cheat, or age-gating cash features — are needed before launch.
We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active, so that your XP, coins, achievements, and history remain intact. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep certain records (such as transaction history) for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
We protect your account with password hashing, CSRF protection on every form, and automatic login lockout after repeated failed attempts. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe and will notify affected users if we become aware of a breach involving personal data, as required by law.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most of your information directly from Profile Settings. For anything else — including full account deletion or a copy of your data — contact us via the Contact page or at [[email protected]], and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the platform's features change. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and where changes are significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users.
